Vitamin D, vitamin K2, niacin, bergamot, and berberine are some supplements with reported cardiovascular (CV) benefits.
Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones; supports the brain, immune and nervous systems; regulates insulin levels; and promotes CV health. Target vitamin D level in the blood should be between 60-80 ng/mL. Persons with < 30 ng/ml were up to 5x at greater risk for developing diabetes than people with > 50 ng/ml. However, too high doses can have toxic side effects. Vitamin K2 affects bone growth/loss. Studies have shown that it also has a preventive impact on prediabetes.Niacin is recommended for patients with significant Lp(a) and for increasing HDL.There is medical evidence that bergamot extract positively impacts blood glucose & cholesterol levels. Like statins, bergamot oil has the same impact on the enzyme that creates cholesterol HMG synthetics. It also has been shown to have anti-inflammatory & antioxidant effects, and it may improve LDL, HDL, and several other things.Traditional Chines herb extract berberine drops HbA1c by 2 points, which is the same as metformin. It might be a good alternative for treating type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension over a long-time period. For more information, contact us at 859-721-1414 or myhealth@prevmedheartrisk.com.
