The Berrien County Youth Fair is canceled for this year. Fair leaders say the 75th Berrien County Youth Fair will instead be held in August of 2021. Michigan and New York are the only two states in the nation “on track to contain” the coronavirus, according to the website COVID Act Now. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has extended Michigan’s coronavirus emergency declaration until July 16. The Berrien County Board of Commissioners has extended the state of emergency declaration it’s issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Berrien County had seven new cases of COVID-19 to report for Thursday. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the county has had a cumulative total of 684 cases and 60 deaths. The Michigan House has approved a resolution opposing Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s nursing home policies during the COVID-19 pandemic. A house fire in Grand Junction on Tuesday night was an arson. So says the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, which was called out to the scene in the 53,000 block of Summit Drive to investigate at the request of the Columbia Township Fire Department.
